Svensson backs Sweden to repeat 1994 success

Tommy Svensson, who coached Sweden to third place in the 1994 FIFA World Cup? in the United States, believes his country can do as well in this year's finals in Germany.
"If everyone is on top they sure can get as good as we were," Svensson told the news agency TT on Friday.

"There are some real world-class players in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Larsson and Fredrik Ljungberg, it's just a matter of everyone being on top and in shape at the same time."

Svensson's 1994 World Cup side hammered Bulgaria 4-0 in the play-off for third place, having lost the semi-final to eventual winners Brazil.

He resigned in 1997 after failing to take Sweden to the following FIFA World Cup in France.

Of the 1994 squad only Larsson and central defender Teddy Lucic will feature in Germany, provided they both remain fit.

Sweden are grouped with England, Paraguay and Trinidad and Tobago at the finals which begin on 9 June.

I'll be rooting for sweden, after portugal..=D hehe..really hope Zlatan is in top form,..cuz in juve he hasnt been performing lately!

I hoped that Portugal would win the WCC, but my father hoped that Sweden swould win!! I really love Christian Wilhemsson and Niclas Alexandersson!! They are cool!! I've talk to them!! And I've met Ljungberg, Alvbåge, Larsson and Kalle Svensson! They are really nice!! But my dream is to meet C.Ronaldo (of course) but also Zlatan Ibrahimovic! But I've seen him on real. Beckham, Rooney, Ferdinand, Michael Owen and James (the goalkeeper)!! :D
