The truth is that no one is the new Pelé!
He was one of a kind.

Everyone and their mother has been called the new Pelé.  ::lol::
Or the new Maradona. It's just lazy journalism. ::lol::

And tbh, he comes over arrogant to me. Don't know why but there is something in me that says:"I don't like him!"

 :o :o

What? Hatice, you know I totally respect your opinion and often agree with you on a lot of things, but you are totally wrong here. I've been following this kid for years, and let me tell you that he's the most humble kid out there. You have to remember that these interviews published by the English press don't exactly make players look good. It's not Benzema saying, "I want to go here and here." It's people asking him, and him answering honestly. But what he ALWAYS says is that he has a long way to go and a lot to prove, and that while it's nice that people are saying nice things about him, his job is to prove things worthy on the pitch. He's still living with his parents and his eight brothers, and until last year, his dad drove him to practice. He doesn't want to get his own place because he thinks it's important he stays with his family and keeps things real.

Also, for those outside of France, Benzema seems like a one season wonder, but he's not. He's been an upcoming talent for many years now, and last season could have been his break out season, but he picked up a hamstring injury and missed five months out of action. He's been scoring professionally since he was 17.

I agree that he's being hyped a lot right now, but again, it's not just Benzema here. It's the sport right now. Four years ago, you could say the same of Rooney, but I think now few people will say that those concerns were warranted back then. And Benzema is just as special. You don't have every major club in the world after you, don't have managers like SAF following you around in the tunnels and Wenger calling you the future of the France NT, don't have Ancellotti mention you in the same breath as Drogba, Sheva, and Adebayor, and don't have Brazilian Ronaldo point you out as a successor, unless you have something there.

Given the market's high prices on very talented young player (I posted about this in the transfer thread), Benzema's price is justified.

^I agree with that, couldnt have said it better myself. Obviously, ive only recently been introduced to him and he definitely seems like hes gonna be a good player.
Theres just something about him, i dont know what it is but im definitely hoping that Fergie can get him. Theres most definitely more of him to come and i hope we see that at Utd, but if that doesnt happen ill still be happy with watching him play at Lyon.

@Lyonara: Does he seriously have 8 brothers? I guess thats how many kids Algerian families are meant to have cos nearly all my Algerian friends have HUGE families lol
Oh and i also wanted to ask if anyone knows what his number for the French national team is cos its really bugging me and i wanna know lol

You are really right about him being so humble. He was in the Spanish press recently and I read an interview in Diario Sport and he came across as really down-to-earth and a good person. You can tell that he has his head in the right place

^I think the reason he pissed you off was because of the way he was written about in the English press. I cannot stand the english press cos you hardly ever get a story thats true and when you do, its usually messed around with to make something completely false and irrelevant.
I personally think that Benzema deserves all the hype cos hes that good, and he shows it time and time again. Hes a player that delivers on all occasions and not just in the big games.
Im excited to see whats gonna happen this summer cos there is gonna be a major bidding war between all the top clubs in Europe.
