Yes, a region in Northern Spain. The red circle is Basque Country and the blue circle is La Rioja, from where Llorente come from.

he is a blonde spainard ;)

He's not Spanish, he's Basque ;)
He's from LA RIOJA not from the Basque Country. And anyway, last time I checked, Basque Country was still part of Spain.

His family is from La Rioja, he was born in Pamplona and that is why he qualifies to play for Athletic Club.

I know. I have seen him play in Lezama since he was a kid. He lived in Rincón de Soto in La Rioja until he went to Bilbao.

Another Fernando Torres, huh? He has gorgeous eyes. They're mesmerising. But I have to say, it's still the other one who does it for me.

He's from the Basque region, but he's still Spanish.

the exact word...mesmerizing... but, I didn"t know that this region belonging was so important in Spain...

He is Spanish. That is his nationality.

The Basque region is simply the region of Spain that he is from.

I am English, but the North West is the region I'm from. Does that makes sense?

I don"t know but I think that region belonging shouldn"t be more important than belonging to a certain nation. I"m also very proud of the region where I come from but I would never put it ahead my national belonging

The Spanish take their regions very seriously though. A few, such as the Basque and Catalan regions, would like independence; to become their own country. I don't know much about it though, so if I'm wrong I'm really sorry.

To be honest, I think of myself as more Scouse than English. I'm prouder to be from Liverpool than I am England. It just depends your own personal feeling and beliefs, I suppose. I don't think there's any right or wrong on the matter :)

But...this is a thread about Fernando Llorente, not nationalities and regions, etc.
