Part 6
For years I was asking myself what men are carrying around in their attaché case. Files? They?re in the office, aren?t they? Or is it only news paper?
Since I?m pregnant I also want to take a look into the big bags of young mothers at the play ground.
Astonishing: they?re still answering the question; ?Mommy, I?m so thirsty.? With a; ?Sweetie, I don?t have anything here. We?re home very soon.?
So what are they carrying around? My friend with two kids says it?s ?blind actionism? before she leaves the house.
?I pack everything what we have and what we could need. Second pair of pans, swimmies, drawing book, toy phone, apple slices, and easily forget wet wipe. That can be dramatic.?
The next day she realized that she forgot the second pair of pants when she pulled her son out of a puddle but could at least offer him a drawing book to make him feel better.
I won?t join this equipement-mania. As a mother I want to be like the Mayas. Uncomplicated, without a baby carriage, without enourmos bags. Babies are carried in big scarf kind of thing around the upper body. They?re peaceful because they?re feeling close to their mom.
?Uh, bull crap, they?re getting gagged that?s why they?re so quiet,? my sister says when I tell her about those plans.
Last Saturday I dared to visit a baby outfitter to get some infos.
The monster diaper bag scared me. That?s sort of what happened in the baby carriage department.
The shopkeeper showed me about fifteen models ? every detail; ?You pull here, put that down, you can fold in the wheels. This is for the feet.?
That was too much for me. And I was shocked that those carriages cost more than my first ?used? car. Since then everytime I see a baby carriage in the streets I don?t tilt my head to the side and take a delighted look into the carriage. No! I immediately look for the label, check the wheels, guess the price and want to congratulate the mother for being able to know how that thing works.
Probably I?ll also sit at the playground with all the equipement only cause I?m proud of the pro-kids stuff I own. That?s probably the secret of the attaché case: you just love to take it for a walk.
