Ronaldo's Change Personality
« on: 22 June 2009, 23:02:55 »
When Ronaldo first arrived at United he was only 18 but very humble and seemed a nice, shy kind of guy.. Now compare this to the Ronaldo of now, the two are very different, Ronaldo of now is very arrogant, fame whore and has had alot of people dislike him, Where in you opinion do you think Ronaldo changed and maybe let the fame get to him in his personality and effect the way he acts?

I am a big fan of Ronaldo still I just would like to hear peoples opinions as to when you think he changed IF you think he changed at all.

Yes he's changed but I wouldn't say its necessarily bad. Firstly, he's 24 and wants to have fun and he has every right to do so. Secondly, his attitude and mentality is what sets him apart from the rest of the players and I think, helps him tremendously in football.

Eveyone changes, your not going to be the same person all your life, you're going to grow up, become more mature, want different things, its the way of life.

I don't know him but I don't think hes changed much tbh, I think hes just got more famous and we hear/see more of him now, of course he can be a bit arrogant/confident at times (and maybe hes got more confident/arrogant as hes got older due to his success) but that's the way he is, it helps make him the player he is, he can also be very humble still and many people who have met him and actually know him (I.E not the media's opinion of him) said the same thing

I agree. The way he treats his family and the people around him has remained the same, I think and that's what is so important.

And he always has time for his fans, OK maybe not as much as before as he has so many now, but he tries more then most athletes anyway.

I think hes a good guy  :) who makes mistakes like everyone, but deep down inside hes still the nice, shy guy.

I dont think he changed pretty much, i agree with Maj its just that we hear more of him now, and he's much more known and gets much more attention..

And for the arrogant thing, i actually dont see him as an arrogant person, he is only arrogant in games while he's playing and that is perfectly normal, cause in the end he is playing, and doesnt want to lose. in normal life, from what we see he is actually very sweet and caring, not arrogant at all, he doesnt seem like a person who scowls at anyone and everyone and beats papparazzi's, at least we havent heard of anything like that..

But physically he has changed a lottt, and i love that change ::lol::

it is kinda weird to stay the same way all your life,  you have to change. being confident and arrogant are too different things and he is just confident, if you listen to his interviews, he never says he is better than another player, he never speaks about how much he earns, so no he has not changed.

Ok thats cool, but do you think that this Cristiano is the same one that walked into Old Trafford them years ago? Or do you think Cristiano has always been this way, just in the shadows previously?

i don't think he is the same he has to change. maybe the money, the fame and the knew looks makes him a bit confident but still not arrogant.

he has changed from the person he was when he first arrived at OT, but i don't consider it a bad thing at all. he has become more comfortable with the limelight and the media (i.e. when doing interviews and not when he's being stalked), and i also believe he's mentally stronger now. it's a good change when you see him handling difficult questions with ease as opposed to looking flustered like in his first few interviews, but maybe that was also due to the language barrier since he spoke little english then.

as for his 'arrogance', i've never considered him an arrogant person and never had reason to. shrugging his shoulders on the field after scoring a spectacular goal is part of the show he puts on when he's playing...i do not look at it as a sure sign of him being arrogant off the field. he does come across as cocky in some interviews, but i think that's down to his sense of humour and supreme confidence, both of which are grossly misunderstood by the general public. we do have to consider how the media works before passing judgements on him based on quotes. a lot of times he just jokes around but the media quotes him without mentioning that, making him sound bad. all his teammates ever say when talking about his personality is that he's not what papers make him out to be, and i think that says a lot!
