I didn't like how Annabeth was portrayed. She was like a mix of book Annabeth and Clarisse and someone else that wasn't in the books but the script writer probably based off of someone he knew. :( Annabeth's brains and battle tactics were not used nearly enough in the film and the film was pushing for Percy/Annabeth a bit too hard. It would have been more convincing if it were a bit more subtle.

Same with Grover. I LOVE Brandon T. Jackson, and he was great in this film BUT I missed book Grover A LOT. Grover is supposed to be really insecure and a worry wart. Instead he was laid back and calm and cool.

I'm not too sure why they decided to make the characters older, except maybe they felt it would be easier to cast actors and if there are to be future films they don't have to worry about the actors being too old to play the ages that is required.
