@Isa1707 - I see your point, but that's exactly how his character is going to develop he's done things wrong, gone about things completely the wrong way, when he manages to get himself back around he's going to be more complete; it's all about character progression
This will show to Elena that Stefan is not the perfect do-gooder she thinks he is/used to think he was, but ultimately he is a good person willing to do anything for those he loves. From then she will decide to either 1) Stick by him, making them stronger than ever, and that's why, it's going to feel even better for people like me who are Stelana shippers OR b)walk away. Both are very plausible.
I agree, some things have been based very, very loosely on the books, which is why I like to speculate on it. Obviously I know they're ultimately two different things but I'd like them to follow certain things from it. Yeah I don't like Matt/Elena as a romantic pairing but I like how he reminds her that she still has something normal still in her life. He's kind of like her escape, her only human link left.
What you said is like music to my ears, I love Caroline and hope she's there till the end. Rebekah on the other hand, I can't stand and I don't know why either.
