Ahahahaha I'm so happy that" Avatar" didn't sweep the awards.
I'm very happy that "The Hurt Locker" won Best Picture and that Kathryn Bigelow won for Best Director since I thought that that movie was phenomenal, but a part of me kind of thinks that "Up" was the best film of all the films nominated. Oh well, it won for Best Animated Feature.
I'm also very happy that "Precious" won for Best Adapted Screenplay. I've heard that "Up in the Air" was a well done screenplay, but obviously "Precious" left a big impact on people and the ability to bring it from book to screen was an amazing thing to see.
I don't think people will agree with me on this, but I don't think Sandra Bullock deserved Best Actress. I kind of don't like that many times these acting awards are given more towards careers than the actual work done in the film they are nominated for, because I'm sure Sandra Bullock did a good job in "The Blind Side" but it probably wasn't out of her element. It was mostly given to her because she's had a huge year in 2009 and because this wasn't a romcom that she did, again. Of the nominated, I thought that Meryl Streep made a craft out of portraying Julia Child in "Julie and Julia". It should have gone to her.
Anyway, I'm so excited that "Up" won for Best Original Score. <3 That score is the only score in quite a long time that can make me remember every emotion I went through when I was watching that film for the first time, and every time. I was afraid that it was going to be given to one of the films that people have been hyping a lot about, just because people liked it (IE. "Avatar" or "The Hurt Locker").
The awards weren't all that great this year. Almost every award was predictable. I was hoping for a suprise upset for Best Picture ("DISTRICT 9!" lulz) or Best Actor, but it never came. I guess it's a good thing since 2009 was an amazing year for films. I thought a lot of very well made films came out last year. I do want them to get rid of the ten nominations for Best Picture. I was pretty much against it when it first was announced. Once the nominations came around, I thought it was interesting, but then it ended up becoming a two film race, which doesn't make it exciting.
