A/N: Hello ladies! So, I'm FINALLY updating this, it's been such a long time, and I apologize for that, life is just too busy lately! I've been stuck with this chapter for weeks and I honestly don't like it, but, here it is anyway! Comments=love :)
Love you all, Tamy.

Chapter 9

Warm.

That’s how she remembered his eyes. Warm, fiery blue eyes locked with her chocolate brown ones while they were making love all those weeks ago. Completely different from what she sees now. At this very moment she stares at freezing blues eyes and it kills her and she’s sure she’s never been so afraid of someone before.

She’s slightly shaking and her heart is pounding in her chest. His beautiful face is blurred by the tears that she’s strongly fighting to hold back. They stare at each other for what it seems forever, a deadly silence surrounding them until she finds the voice to say something, anything.

“What are you doing here?” she asks in a sleepy and groggy voice.

He continues in silence, staring at her with hurt in his eyes. “Gerard?”

“Why?” he asks, stepping closer to her hospital bed, a confused and devastated look in his eyes.

Gloria rests her head against the pillow again and closes her eyes, letting the uncountable tears fall freely down her face. Why? She doesn’t know the answer to this miserable little question.

“Because it was a mistake, Geri.” It’s the only thing she manages to say through her tears.

“What the hell are you talking about?” He yells, not caring that he’s in a hospital.

“You and me, Gerard.” She answers angrily. “This whole situation. This is all wrong.”

“Who cares if it is right or wrong? It wasn’t just your decision.” He points out. “It was mine too. You should’ve told me”

She keeps quiet and keeps staring at her hands in her lap. He is right, obviously. She should’ve told him, she should’ve told her sister and the rest of her family.

“This child is mine just as it is yours, Gloria.” He keeps talking, in a softer voice, while she stays silent. “It’s a part of me and you.”

And that breaks her. She had never thought about it as a part of them, she was too scared and confused to do so, and now that he made her see that, she feels an unbearable pain in her chest and her heart breaks into a million pieces. She tried to get rid of her own little baby. An innocent life they created together and she honestly hates herself right now.

“We’re not even together Geri. We never were.” She says, sobbing uncontrollably, trying to explain why she did it. “I have a fiancé and you just got back together with Mariyah. It was going to mess up our whole lives.”

Gerard’s heart breaks a little at the sight of her crying desperately in front of him. He takes a few steps and sits in the bed next to her and takes her hands in his.

“Hey” he says, lifting her chin to him so she can meet his eyes. “Look at me.”

Gloria looks up at him with her big teary brown eyes as he cleans the tears that fall down her cheeks.

“I’ve always thought that if a situation like this ever happened to me I wouldn’t have a problem on dealing with an abortion.” He starts to tell her sadly, as if admitting something bad, looking down at their intertwined hands. It annoys him to see that they fit so perfectly together. “But when Xabi called yesterday and told me everything…” he continues, trying to get rid of his thoughts. “I felt this huge sadness inside me, as if a part of me was being taken away.” He confesses, chocking a bit at his words and when he looks at her she can see that his eyes are shining with tears.

“Geri – “ She doesn’t even know what to say. She’s shocked and speechless. Not even in her wildest dreams Gerard Piqué would have a reaction like the one she’s getting right now. It’s common knowledge that he is not the traditional selfless good boy who cares about things like that. Yes, he has a good heart, but he was never a saint, she knows all his defects and she’s stunned to learn about this whole other side of him that she never thought it existed. It’s like their playing twisted roles. He’s being the emotional and caring one and she’s being the selfish bitch.

“I want this baby Glori.” He whispers, startling her from her conclusions only to leave her even more astonished. ”I know that it’s going to mess everything up, but I want this.” He tells her, and she can feel that he’s putting his heart out to her in a way she never imagined, and that maybe this is the most honest thing he’s ever said to her. “If this was meant to happen in my life, I’m glad it was with you.” He finishes, with a small smile, and she feels as if his deep blue eyes are pouring into her soul.

“And what if –“ She starts to ask in a shaky voice, but it kills to even think about what she’s going to say. “What if the baby is gone?” She quietly whispers, afraid of what his answer is going to be. She needs to hear that it will be fine, and for heaven’s sake she desperately needs to hear that their baby is going to be fine.

“It’s not.” He states, putting a hand over her stomach before looking up at her teary brown eyes. “I know that is still here. I can feel it.”

She puts both her hands on top of his and gives it a light squeeze, taking a deep breath and making a silent prayer that he is right, otherwise she doesn’t know if some day she’ll be able to forgive herself.

Their little moment is interrupted by a nurse, and when Gloria notices that she’s bringing an ultrasound machine she squeezes Gerard’s hand a little tighter. This is it. The moment is finally here and she doesn’t know if she wants to find out the truth.

“I’m sorry to interrupt but I need to do this now.” The grey haired nurse says, pointing towards the machine and moving closer to Gloria’s bed. “We have to check the baby, señora.

Gloria closes her eyes at the nurse’s words and takes a deep breath. “He can stay with me, right?” She asks, afraid that she’s gonna have to face this all alone.

“Sure.” The old lady answers, flashing the scared young couple a sympathetic smile, as she starts to spread the cool gel over Gloria’s stomach. “Are you ready for this, mija?

No. No, I’m not ready.

“Sí.” She blurts, looking at Gerard with desperate eyes in search of some reassure. He smiles and moves to sit next to her, one of his hands holding hers and the other caressing her hair.

They start to hear that weird sound, that known sound. But it’s just that. No heart beats, nothing. Geri keeps staring at the monitor, waiting for something, for anything to happen. Gloria throws her head back in the pillow and closes her eyes in hopes that some higher force takes her away from there to a completely different place.

And then something startles them. Gloria’s eyes snap open and Geri takes a closer look at the monitor. It’s a faint, distant sound. A beautiful sound, their baby’s heart sound.

“There it is.” The nurse points to the monitor. “Your baby is fine.” She says, as the heartbeats start to get faster and louder.

Gerard keeps staring amazed at the monitor while Gloria starts to laugh with joy and relief, as tears make their way down her face.

“I told you, nena.” He says, cupping her face in his hands, foreheads touching. “I told you it was going to be fine.” And then he kisses her, full on the lips, much to the nurse’s amusement. It’s just a quick touch of lips and it happens so fast that she doesn’t even have time to think about it. He kisses her nose and then gets up when his phone starts to ring; leaving room for the nurse to finish whatever it is she has to do.

“You two are going to make a beautiful family.” The nurse quietly says to a smiling Gloria while Gerard answers the phone call a few steps away from them.

Gloria just smiles and goes with it.“Gracias.” She says, knowing that explaining to the lady their situation will be way too complicated. But, somehow, she knows that they’re going to be some kind of family in their own twisted way.

“How do you feel?” Gerard approaches as the nurse leaves the room, sitting in the chair right next to the bed.

“Relieved. Happy.” She answers with a big smile on her face, making him smile back. “You haven’t told her yet, have you?” She asks, completely changing the subject, and referring to his previous phone talk.

“No.” It’s his honest reply, knowing that she’s talking about Mariyah. “But I will, as soon as get back to Barcelona.” He explains, and she just nods.

They just keep quiet for a while before he breaks the silence. “I bought something while I was on my way here.” He says, with a smirk, stuffing one of his hands in his pocket and Gloria looks at him, curious.

He watches as the most beautiful smile he has ever seen graces her features when he shows her the little pair of baby shoes he had in his hands. Barça baby shoes, of course, and she has no idea where he got them.

“Uau, Geri, they’re...” she’s kind of speechless right now. In the middle of all this mess he had time to buy her this cute little gift. It seems like Gerard Piqué took the day to surprise her. “They’re perfect.” She says, taking the little shoes in her much smaller hands.

“I have to go.” He says, sadly, not wanting to leave her side. “My flight leaves in a couple of hours.”

She nods in response and lifts her free hand to touch his cheek. “Gracias. For everything.”

He takes her hand in his and kisses her palm. “You don’t have to thank me.” He says, kissing her forehead tenderly and getting up. He picks his jacket and makes his way towards the door and she feels that drop on her stomach at the thought of being alone.

“Glori?” He calls her and she lifts her distracted brown eyes to meet his bright blue ones. “Take good care of our little one, ?!” he says, pointing towards her belly.

Gloria laughs lightly, her eyes still locked with his, and touches her stomach. “I will.” She responds, her eyes and smile  brighter than ever.“Te prometo.”

"And suddenly life turns you upside down,
and you discover that the opposite is your right side."
