Lavolpe trims Mexico squad
Mexico coach Ricardo Lavolpe has unveiled his final World Cup squad after trimming three players from his initial group of 26.
Joel Huiqui, Jaime Lozano and Israel Lopez were all left disappointed, although they have been invited to join the squad in Germany for the finals.
Veteran defender Claudio Suarez has therefore been picked at the age of 37, and Lavolpe has also included two naturalised players in Guillermo Franco and Antonio Naelson.
Mexico travel to France on May 20 before playing a friendly against Les Bleus on May 27, and have a further warm-up against Holland before the finals.
Lavope's men take on Angola, Iran and Portugal in Group D in Germany.
