Finally watching this game on espn3.....Ronaldo certainly isn't very involved. I guess that's the new strategy for this year -- put him out on one side and hope Benzema scores.

Benzema does have a good chance of becoming Pichichi this season.. hes certainly the "reference" of Madrid this season, the number 1 striker going into the season and he has alot of confidence, aswell as a selfish streak that all great strikers have.

I think Cristiano will still score goals but maybe not as many as last season when he was playing as a striker more.. maybe more a winger assist man this season cutting in onto his strong right foot shooting.

Ronaldo wants to score the goals and be the star of Madrid like Messi is for Barca, I'm sure he doesn't want to play second fiddle to Benzema and Messi's Pichichi battle but he is a pro who earns alot of money and he will do what role Jose asks him to play, he won't throw the toys out of the pram hes more mature now

I'm sure Cris can adapt his game to any role like at Manchester United and now Real Madrid.. hes a very versatile and experienced footballer now who can play all across the front and midfield lines which might not always be a good thing (a jack of all traits) as some player who can only play in 1 or 2 positions as he will never have a fixed role in the team to master but it's working so far long may it continue

Well can't beat Barcelona, so I'd say it doesn't work. Benzema is a good players, but Ronaldo is better -- top 5 in the world. So the question is why the team isn't working on ways to get the ball to Ronaldo in a scoring position.

Most likely theory is that last year Ronaldo was worn out by the time the important games came around, so this year they're hoping that some of the other strikers can come thru and carry the team early on.
