Ah hello!

I am not familiar with teh Argentine clubs, but I am familiar with Lionel Messi. I do say he is by far one of your most popular players, of course he plays for Barcelona.

I'm from the US.

Are there any other players that have a great amount of fame in Argentina?

 Well, yes but all who are popular are playing abroad. for example: Carlos Tevez, Gonzalo Higuain, Pastore.
In Argentina players with great fame are: Juan Roman Riquelme (Boca Juniors), Martin Palermo (retired from Boca Juniors a few days ago), Sebastian Veron (Estudiantes de La Plata).
