Torres to stick with Athletico
Spain striker Fernando Torres has said he is not about to leave Atletico Madrid despite seeing his side fail once again to achieve a place in Europe.
The 22-year-old, who has top scored for Atletico over the last four seasons, has caught the eye of a number of clubs in England and Italy.
"The press are always talking about me going and recently the speculation has been stronger, probably because we are near a World Cup," Torres told reporters on Thursday.
"But my plan is to stay here for the next three years (until the end of his contract). I haven't signed anything with any other clubs.
"I have always said I want to be in the side that returns Atletico to where it deserves to be."
Atletico started the year with a side many thought would be challenging for a Champions League place at the end of the season, but Wednesday's home defeat to Osasuna meant they slipped to 10th in the Primera Liga with two games left to play.
"Every year it seems to be the same old story, where we make great signings, build a team to go places but we fail and it really hurts," he added.
Looking ahead to next season Atletico have said they have made an offer for Independiente's 17-year-old Argentine striker Sergio Aguero.
