Big Brother Jo is starving herself to death
13/02/07 www.dailystar.co.uk
BIG Brother bully Jo O?Meara was on suicide watch last night amid fears she is starving herself to death.

The former S Club babe, who claims the show?s race row wrecked her life, is refusing to eat and is being pumped full of prescription drugs.

Family members claim she is having a nervous breakdown because her stint on the Channel 4 show has ruined her life and they are keeping a suicide watch on her.

A pal said: ?Jo?s got everyone worried because she?s stopped eating. She doesn?t go outside as she thinks everyone hates her.

?And because she?s talked about suicide, she can?t be left alone.?

The 27-year-old star became a hate target after fans accused her of making racist jibes against Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, 31.

Viewers were stunned when she claimed all Indians were thin because they undercooked their food and ate with their hands.

They were also horrified how she just laughed when the actress was abused by Jade Goody, 25.

After her eviction, where Jo was booed by the crowds, she caused more outrage by refusing to say sorry. Within hours she discovered she had become one of the most hated people in the UK.

She has also been quizzed by police after complaints from viewers that she and others allegedly made racist comments.

Her depression was worsened by the death of her agent Tony Fox, who died of a heart attack two days after her eviction.

She fears the stress that her stint on the show put him under may have led to the cardiac arrest. Jo has now checked into a secret hotel because she is too terrified to go back to her Essex home.

Medics have advised her family that someone should stay with her all the time.

The pal added: ?She?s very, very fragile. She?s having a breakdown.

?She?s still very tearful and is shaking and rocking a lot. We are in contact with Jo?s doctors on a daily basis.

?They felt they had no choice but to increase her pills.

?If it helps her get through the day a bit easier then that?s a good thing. But to make matters worse she?s stopped eating.

?There are some days she doesn?t even get up and get dressed.

?The doctors have said it?s the worst case they?ve ever seen of someone so badly affected by their appearance on a TV show.?

The pal said: ?Our main priority is getting Jo back to a condition where she feels she can go home.

?The irony is that she said she wanted to do Big Brother because she thought it looked fun and she would get enough money to stop her home being repossessed.

?But it?s turned out to be the worst decision of her life.?

A Channel 4 spokeswoman said last night: ?Housemates? welfare is our first priority.

?A robust aftercare system is in place to ensure all housemates are fully supported and advised after they leave the show.?

SHILPA BANNED FROM SEEING SICK JO
17/02/07
CELEBRITY Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty has been dealt a bitter blow ? she?s been barred from seeing troubled housemate Jo O?Meara.

Jo?s family fear that if the pair meet, it will push the fragile girl ? who has stopped eating and already talked of suicide ? over the edge.

Bollywood actress Shilpa, who was the target of racist bullies during the Channel 4 show, wanted to offer an olive branch to the former S Club singer.

Troubled Jo, 27, was among a gang of girls in the BB house accused of cruelly taunting and bullying the Indian actress ? sparking a huge backlash from viewers and a global outrage which saw Jo become a hate figure and receive death threats.

It led the blonde chart-topper to sink into a deep depression, feeling her life and career are in tatters.

Big-hearted Shilpa, 31, has said she is prepared to forgive Jo for her antics and wants to meet her in the hope she can help her get back on her feet ? but she has hit a brick wall.

Almost three weeks after Celeb BB ended, the film beauty has not been able to see Jo or even get a message to her.

Her family have slapped a ban on anyone from the TV show coming near her ? because they are worried any such meetings will cause Jo to have a complete nervous breakdown.

The singer is too scared to go back to her home in Essex and has been holed up in a hideaway hotel since eviction.

She is on prescription drugs to try to beat her depression and only a small number of people have been allowed to see her ? none of them CBB stars ? for fear of triggering all the bad memories and experiences from the show.

Last night Shilpa ? who has forgiven Jo for mimicking her Indian accent and joking that all Indians are thin because they get ill from eating undercooked food ? issued a plea for Jo to get in touch. Her spokesman said: ?Shilpa has not been able to speak to Jo and we would urge her to get in touch as soon as possible. Shilpa would really like to see her before she flies back to India next week.

?She wants Jo to know the door is open for her and she wants to help get her sorted and put all this behind her. So we want her to give us a call.?

Shilpa is not the only BB pal who has not been able to get near Jo.

Cleo Rocos, Ian ?H? Watkins and Danielle Lloyd ? who have all been worried sick about her after word leaked that she had been suicidal ? have been unable to contact her.

A spokesman for Danielle, 23, said: ?She is very concerned for Jo but she has not been able to reach her.?

And 30-year-old Ian?s agent added: ?He had a mobile phone number for her but it is no longer working.

?It has not been possible to get hold of her.?

Pal Cleo, 44, revealed she is also having trouble getting a message to Jo, who she called her ?soulmate?.

It appears the only people who are allowed to see Jo are her mum, a handful of family members and a close friend.

A family source said: ?Jo is still very fragile and we think she needs to get herself sorted before she sees anyone from that dreaded show.

?We?re worried that if she meets up with Cleo or Shilpa or Dani in her current state it might trigger all the bad memories again and set her back ? even though they are her friends.

?They know that Cleo, Dani, Ian and Shilpa mean well, but at the moment think it is best for her not to see them.

?She has been made aware that they have sent their love and want to see her.?

* SHILPA fans have set up a petition on the internet calling on her to take over disgraced Danielle?s £100,000 modelling job at Rocawear, the firm set up by rap star Jay-Z, 37.

JADE MUM BEATEN BY RACE GANG

JADE Goody's terrified mum was under police guard last night after SHE was subjected to a vicious racist attack.

Jackiey Budden, 49 - evicted from TV's Celebrity Big Brother amid a racial bullying storm - was pounced on by four Asian youths near her home.

The gang shouted "Oi, you racist bitch, we're going to teach you a lesson" then pinned Jackiey against their car as they shouted and swore at her.

The tough Cockney mum admitted yesterday: "I'm absolutely petrified.

"I thought my life was getting back to normal after everything that happened with Big Brother and all that.

"But what happened on Friday has come as a real setback.

"I don't want to let these people force me out of my manor, that would mean they won.

"Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a bad person."

Jackiey, who started the racism stormin last month's Celebrity Big Brother by calling housemate Shilpa Shetty "the Indian", had just drawn cash from a Barclays machine at London's Tower Bridge on Friday lunchtime when a silver Mercedes pulled alongside.

Four young Asian men jumped out and repeatedly pushed her until she was pinned helpless against the side of their car.

Passers-by watched in shock as the furious thugs shouted and swore in the terrified mum's face.

When other cars started piling up behind and hooting their horns the gang leaped back in the Mercedes and sped off.

Police rushed to the scene and bundled Jackiey into the back of a squad car where she was given a policeman's peaked cap and black waterproof jacket as a disguise.

She was then driven around the area to look for the men who assaulted her.

After a fruitless search Jackiey was taken to a police station for her safety.

Detectives are now trawling through CCTV footage to try to identify the Mercedes.

It is the second time the foulmouthed Cockney has been the victim of revenge attacks after the Channel 4 controversy.

Three men threatened to set upon her as she left her home in Bermondsey, south London.

She was then forced to flee her council flat after getting a series of mobile phone calls from a man who threatened to kill her.

Aclose friend told The People last night: "Jackiey is absolutely terrified over this latest attack. She has already installed CCTV cameras outside her house because three guys tried to attack her a few weeks ago.

"Jackiey has been away from her home for two-and-a-half weeks in hiding, living out of a suitcase.

"She had only been back home for three days when this happened.

"Now she doesn't know what to do. She's even taken to wearing sunglasses and a hat on a bid to disguise herself but after this attack it seems if people want to find her they still can."

Channel 4 bosses will be left reeling by news of this latest attack on Jade Goody's mother.

The last series of Celebrity Big Brother drew worldwide condemnation after Jackiey, her 25-year-old daughter and other housemates launched a series of sickening verbal racist attacks on Bollywood movie star Shilpa, 31. The latest attack on Jackiey will be seized upon by critics as evidence that Big Brother has inflamed racial tension.

"This is Big Brother's worst nightmare," said a TV expert last night.

"The fact that this group of Asians feels it necessary to attack Jade Goody's mother in such a shocking manner shows the depth of feeling the show has stirred up."

Jackiey tried to defend her behaviour in the house despite referring to Shilpa as "the Indian" and "Princess"and her apparent inability to say the actress's name properly.

Jackiey also said to Shilpa: "Do you live in a house or a shack?"

After being evicted from the house Jackiey said: "Yes I f***ing did call her Indian.

"She is an Indian. Listen, I also called her the S-word hundreds of times but I never said it to her face." On Friday while her mum was being attacked, disgraced big-mouth Jade was given a bunch of flowers as a sign of forgiveness by an Iranian community in London.

But this latest vicious assault on her mother will set back the effort to build bridges.

A high-ranking officer said: "Jackiey Budden was interviewed on Friday regarding an attack."
