01/08/2008 11:50, Report by Ben Hibbs and Gemma ThompsonNeville out of Espanyol gameInjury will force Gary Neville to miss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?s testimonial match against RCD Espanyol at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Neville is hoping to return to action this season after missing almost the entire 2007/08 campaign with various injuries.

The 33-year-old defender has picked up a slight calf strain, but Sir Alex Ferguson explained on Friday that he expects to have the club captain available for selection when the Reds take on Juventus at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney, who have both been suffering with a virus this week, should recover in time to face Espanyol.

Soccer star Gary Neville set to be a dad
By Brian Roberts 6/08/2008

Gary Neville is set to become a father for the first time.

The soccer star's wife Emma, 26, revealed the secret as she told guests at a charity function: "I'm five and a half months gone and we can't wait for the baby."

It will bring a smile to the face of the Manchester United skipper, 32, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since March 2007.

An Old Trafford source said: "He's not had much to cheer himself up about in recent times what with his long-term injury.

"But this will be the perfect tonic for him. He will be a great dad."

Former England defender Gary and Emma now face a race against time to have their hilltop mansion ready for the arrival of their child in winter.

The £12million, 12-bedroom mansion near Bolton, Lancs, should have been ready by June 2007 but has been hit by a series of building problems.
