CROUCH SETTING HIS SIGHTS ON SECOND PLACE
Mark Platt 07 May 2006
Peter Crouch is optimistic Liverpool can still pip Manchester United to runners-up spot in the Premiership as he prepapres for a return to former club Portsmouth today.
The Reds will seal second spot if they beat Pompey at Fratton Park and United fail to defeat Charlton at Old Trafford.

And the striker, who netted 18 goals in 37 appearances for Portsmouth in 2001, is in confident mood ahead of the clash on the south coast.

"Second place is still possible, even if it did appear to be slipping away from us. We know Manchester United will have to slip up but we will fight right to the end," insists Crouch.

"We have put a good run together and want to finish the season strongly.

"And whatever happens, we will be looking to take this form into next season. When you are at a club like this you have to keep improving.

"And we have improved this season, our league position and points tally underlines that. The manager said last season that although we won the Champions League he was disappointed with the league position and form.

"We are third at the moment, aiming for second, but intent on going even higher next season."

KEWELL RETURNS FOR POMPEY CLASH
Lee Brown 07 May 2006
Harry Kewell will return to the Liverpool side for today's final Premiership clash with Portsmouth at Fratton Park and Jerzy Dudek will deputise for Pepe Reina in goal.
The Reds still harbour hopes of clinching 2nd spot from Manchester United and Rafa has named a strong side that sees Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Momo Sissoko and Harry Kewell line up in midfield.

Liverpool - Dudek, Riise, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Kewell, Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Morientes, Fowler. Subs - Reina, Traore, Cisse, Crouch, Kromkamp.

will probably b dudeks last match for us 2day  :'( hes a hero
