I agree with you on Ballack. Even the announcer said that he better watch himself and mentioned that the ref should have carded him earlier. I'm not trying to down on Germany they're clearly a good side. But that's the thing, they were good, Spain were great. Not an even match or even tournament one was clearly better than the other and they won. I'm not trying to say Germany were bad but they did get beat by the better team. And it could be that my blood is calling and I want to defend Spain but I'm not the only one who think so.

lol! A Spain-Italy finale doesn't sound that exciting to me!!! What would be cool is two attacking teams in the finale. Spain-Holland or Spain-Portugal you know! I want to see goals, not just penalty kicks!

Congratulation Xavi and congrats Spain, even if I'm late ;)
I'm obviously disappointed that Germany didn't win, but even from my biased point of view - the best team won!
I am happy that Spain are the champions now, they're a great team and worthy winners, so all in all I'm quite satisfied ;)

I just don't get why people say that Germany's only good match was against Poland. They may not have played as attractive football as we're used to seeing from them but to say that they completely rode their luck all the way to the final isn't accurate in my opinion. They've certainly had more than a few terrible moments in this tournament but they kept going. Clearly this tournament was much more difficult for them than they anticipated but they were strong enough to keep fighting. I was tremendously disappointed with their performance in the final but Spain were the better team on the night. How much better is debatable: a 1-0 win may not have been the strongest of scorelines; but then again the scoreline itself doesn't really do justice to the game which was actually pretty onesided. It really felt to me like the Germans gave up pretty easily in the final. That said though, Spain were not able to extend their lead. They were however able to defend their lead and almost entirely take Germany out of the game.

Fact is, at the end of the day, Spain won and deserved congratulations to them; but it feels to me like Germany were deserved runners up. It was a fight no doubt and perhaps they didn't win but ultimately they were there at the end.

I don't want to take away from Germany they are a good team and while that is true you must think of the other teams who did not make it to the final that also put up a fight like Germany but played better football and deserved to make the final as well. Sure it might not have been luck completely that got them there but when you examine other teams (like Russia or Turkey) they played very nicely and had a lot of heart, yet hey didn't get to the final.

I am forever a fan of Spain and will naturally dislike when people say it just happened to be their night. This was Spain's tournament and not only that, they have unbelievable talent and belief (not saying Germany doesn't) and they played the best all throughout the tournament, something Germany didn't do.

But I'm not saying that other teams didn't put up a fight. Of course that's not true. But the fact that Germany were able to make it that far considering how difficult the tournament had been for them seems to suggest that they at least deserved a place in the final. And i'm not saying that Spain won only because it was their night. They played well throughout the tournament. And clearly they were the better team in the final too.
