The island people might have a Moroccon decent from the years of the explorers. I know that they have a large African influence from those days. But I think the main influence is Portuguese since ya know the islands are part of Portugal. But I really don't know just taking a shot in the dark

OH and I think this was already discussed wasn't it?

he was also the first Portuguese player to play and score in a FA Cup final, i'd guess he was the first to score in the Carling Cup final too.

Yeah maybe its bc of that cause if Cris was of Morocoon descent,he would have morrocoon descent and thats not the case cause he has 2 truly portuguese surnames:Aveiro,which is a name of a city and Santos.

i think he has arabic descent cuz the arabs were owning spanish and portugl until 1300AD

even if he was somehow of morrocan descent, it has been quite a few generations. i also read somewhere that one of his grandparents is from mozambique...but i'm not sure how true that is.

The fact that the island is closer to Africa than Portugal doesnt mean anything in this case. Madeira is a vulcanic island that was totally inhabited when Portugal discovered it in 1419 and people from the mainland started to settle there. Now, portuguese people from the mainland are also a mix of several peoples that for centuries dominated Iberic Peninsula, islamic people among them (Lisbon was islamic domain till 1147).

I think Cristiano is as Portuguese as they come ::lol::

He has common Portuguese eyes. Curly hair. And that dark stare. ;D
