Zambian player Nsofwa dies in training

JERUSALEM, Aug 29 (Reuters) - Zambian striker Chaswe Nsofwa of Israeli second division side Hapoel Beer Sheva collapsed and died during a practice match in the southern desert city on Wednesday, ambulance staff said.
Nsofwa, 27, was pronounced dead at Beer Sheva's Soroka Hospital after resuscitation efforts on the pitch failed to revive him, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said.

RIP
Is this something that happend before but was never really reported until it was a higher profile player?  Because this is really scarey. Especially happening all together at the moment. What is more scarey is the fact there doesnt seem to be much that can be done.

This has been an awful few weeks for Football! a 16 year Old Swedish footballer died on the 24th of August (not sure of details it was on another forum) and Anton Reid, a 16-year-old Walsall apprentice striker, died after collapsing during a training session on the 21st of August!
Why have all these events occurred at the same time, I mean has it always been happening and its just getting more media coverage at the minute or is it happening more regularly?! Its such a tragic waste of life and is seriously worrying!

RIP. This past week has been really scary...

I was wondering if heart monitors could stop/prevent this? i know its hard to detect on tests and such but if a player is playing and his heart comes under a certain amount of stress perhaps that'd allow the player to come of the pitch and let the heart slow down..players wear them in pre-season, they should wear the all the time in my opinion. Especially in the light of recent events.

yeh like when they put a heart monitor on sam allardyce during a match a few years ago and they found how high his heart rate jumped
not to mention saf who had a heart attack once (i think that was him, not sure though)

but heart monitors are hard to put on during a match because all the physical activity interferes with the medical equipment

but then it is a sudden thing that is happening, to try and detect all possibilities is just plain mad

RIP :(

Something has to be done! It's nerve wrecking for players, clubs and supporters.
I can't watch a game now without panicking when someone falls on the field :(
