ROME (AFP) - Czech international Pavel Nedved has pledged to stick by scandal-hit Italian giants Juventus, despite their relegation to Serie B for match-fixing.
The 33-year-old midfielder insisted he would not be following team-mates Emerson, Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta out of the Turin door.
"Above all it's a lifestyle choice," explained Nedved Thursday. "Me and my family are happy here in Turin.
"But I also owe a debt of gratitude to the Agnelli family (Juventus owners), for the faith they have shown in me.
"For me, Serie A or Serie B, it's the same. It's still football, even if it's played in a different spirit."
Nedved, the 2003 European Footballer of the Year, admitted he had offers to leave Juventus.
"My agent told me there were requests from Spain and England, but I told him not to bother me anymore - I've made up my mind," he said.
Juventus, who were stripped of the league titles they won in 2004-05 and 2005-06 for their invovement in the match-fixing scandal, will begin the new campaign in the second division with a 17-point penalty.
