By the way, isn't Cristiano from Madeira? If so, that would mean that he isn't white. Or atleast the last time I checked, most of my Azorean and Madeiran friends do not consider themselves white. They're probably the Portuguese equivalent of the Andalusians in Spain and the Sicilians in Italy. ;)
I don't know where you got that idea from, but actually Madeira was an unpopulated island before it became part of Portugal and the people who settled there were from Portugal and therefore white. Also, Andalusians and Sicilians are white. They may in general be a little darker than people from the North of Spain or the North of Italy but they are still considered white.

I got that idea from my Madeiran and Azorean friends.  ;) They're the ones who always check "other" on different documents (or on their myspaces)  when asked for their race/ethnicity so take it up with them. *shrugs*

The original inhabitants of those islands may have been white Europeans but because of contact with different groups (The seafaring Arabs and the African Moors/Berbers), the current residents of both those Islands are now mixed. Same goes for the alot of Andalusians in Spain and 99.9% of the Sicilians of Italy.

Cape Verde was also unpopulated before the Portuguese came, but that doesn't make Cape Verdeans white either. And obviously, just like with Madeira and Azores, it was because of other factors (like the fact that they brought West African slaves to the Island with them).

Creoles are from Angola, Cape Verde, and sometimes Mozambique (although with Mozambique its a little different since alot of us also have Arab ancestors  ;)  ).

One of my friends is blond and has blue eyes and iboth her parents are German and still she put "other" on myspace, so that doesn't really say anything ;).

But it's not true that most Madeirense are mixed, though of course there might be some, most are of 100% Portuguese decent, same goes for Sicily (could you please tell me where you heard that 99,9% of the Sicilians are mixed ???). In Andulusia some people might have ancestors from North Africa but again the average Andulusian is white.

You're not listening to me: most (if not all) of my friends from both of those Islands have told me themselves that they are not white. And just by looking at them and taking a freaking DNA sample, that can be verified. Caucaisian? perhaps. But white in the sense we know of it today: no.

And also, its been proven that Sicilians are mixed to a degree with Arab and Moorish blood; they are alot of them who even say this themselves. My good friend at the moment (Who Sicilian) can vouch for me.  She even jokes about her dad's striking resemblence to Saddam Hussein for Chrissakes! Now with them its it a little politically different becuase alot of them actually do consider themselves white at the same time as claiming mixed ancestry. So I won't touch that. :-X

edit: And alot of Andalusians have these same type of things; and then there are a good number of them who are Gitanos (Gypsy).

I'm not blowing smoke out of my ass, hell I even thought this was common knowledge.  Sheesh! :P

Both words for the Romani in Portuguese and Spanish (Gitano/Cigano) translate directly to mean "Gypsy" and they're widely used there with little offense.......that's why I used the English term. I apologize if I offended anyone here.

Okay, Sicilians and Andalusians aside, why don't we stick to the original topic? Madeirans and Azoreans. They don't consider themselves white, most don't even look white by today's standards (my best friend has been mistaken for a number of ethnicites just because of how she looks), and if you took a DNA sample....you'd probably find a almagory of bloodlines and genes pools. What more proof does one need to accept that they are not white?  Even mainland Portuguese people do not consider them white. When they settled in Mozambique during the colonial era we were never able to classify them with the rest of the white Portuguese population because of obvious phenotypical differences (and its more than just skin color btw  ;) ). Hell, the fact that they don't even consider themselves white should be enough for you to leave that alone.

They may be European by association with Portugal and all things Portuguese (I never said they weren't btw), but that does not make them white. Since when does being European automatically make one white? Especially in this day and age when there are immigrants from all four corners of the freaking globe uprooting themselves for a new life on that Goddamn continent.

Ermmm... excuse me, but you said that Cristiano is not white because he is from Madeira (what in my opinion is not true but whatever). I've never heard of Portuguese people not considering people from Madeira white. But I just see no point in arguing about that.

Well you live in Germany, whereas I am Mocambicana currently living in an area heavily populated by the Portuguese and Portuguese speaking people in general......who do you think would know these things better??

Cristiano cannot be white if he's from any of the Portuguese territories and not the mainland. Whether or not you choose to accept that is on you because I have nothing to gain or lose from this.....I'm neither a fan nor a fangirl of his. ::)

Yeah, I hope so. But I agree with you, Ronaldo 7. I remember reading in the interview that he likes beautiful women but he looks at what is on the inside. But his ideal is Angelina Jolie and I sure as heck am not an Angelina Jolie!

wow he said that. lost all resåect for him now. LOL
dont like her. could someone give me a link?
but i saw a vid on youtube that he prefers people from spain and brazil(latinas).
haha i am one.
check out "cristiano ronaldo women" on youtube

and romps = sex?
Gemma bragged about that?? link please
did she tell the truth or was it just publicity???

I think i read that ronaldo has said that he has sizziling sex with her. wondered if anyone belive that newspaper??? espeacially if he denied being with her
He strikes me as a more private person. If he wont admit to gf¨s why admit to that?? the article said that he said not says so. sounds weird.

sounds like someone is making things up

http://www.soccerfiesta.net/cristiano-ronaldo-enjoying-sizzling-sex-sessions-with-gemma-atkinson/
